This mural was done in Feb-Mar 2003.   The owners are from Michigan.  All walls are covered with miles of Michigan Farmland's Apple Orchards - in all four seasons,  as well as the ribbon of ABC's above, relating to specific  details within.  It  took 6½ weeks to complete.  All of the family relatives and pets are also in the mural, along with a few surprise guests.

The Barn doors are the closet doors, as seen in this "Before & After"

The barn is representing the beginning of springtime, hence the apple blossoms.  There's a horsy, a rooster, the family kitty with a ball of yarn, mice, an owl, and Gatsby, the family's first Dalmatian.

Notice the hummingbird by the mailbox (#15), and the baby geese razzing the goat (#11).  Ruby, the family dog is running with horses (#12), just as she is wont to do.  I love lupine and saw it growing on the hillsides every morning on the way to this job...so here it is in true springtime fashion, my favorite time of year (#15).

In the summer the apple trees now have green leaves...and then toward fall the apples come.  Some relatives are having a picnic here; a nephew is on the tire swing.

This is the longest wall and merges into winter.   There's the grandpa driving the John Deere Tractor (#25), and apples in the orchard.  Also a family produce stand with mom's PT Cruiser (#26),  a veggie patch (#27), some fishermen on the bridge (#28), and the apple pickers next to daddy's Hummer (#29).  There's also a "Duck X-ing" for a good X  word (#30), a ladybug and a dragonfly (#31).

Above we can see that it turns to winter right in the middle of the bridge.  The lovely home with the snowman is just like their home in Stevenson Ranch.

The first in this group is the final winter corner.  The grandparents are riding in the sleigh where Grandma holds the new baby, and they're bringing firewood back home.  The rest of the family are skating.  The buildings in town are:  A Gift Shoppe and a Bed & Breakfast; the Skate Rental and Hot Dog Stand; the "Michigan Firewood" cabin, the Church (highest up), a "Bakery Cafe" , and finally, "Little Junior's Art & Music School" (just above where my black Toyota Tacoma is parked with my sign on it.  Also, there is a family of quail in the corner.

THE ABC'S

These letters are not stencils - as I was a Sign-Painter first, trained at L.A. Trade Tech.  Signs are still hand-painted, believe-it-or-not!  This font was the one used for Carnation (Milk & Ice Cream), for whom I painted signs all over L.A. County, day-in, & day out, so I could probably still do this font with my eyes closed.  Now most signs are typed and cut in vinyl by computer, but sandblasted wood signs are still done by hand and look great.  Signs are a good business, as everyone needs signs, and always will!
